One career website put the demands and rewards of hundreds of occupations under the microscope and came up with the year's best and worst jobs.

Career Cast says the best job is software engineer because of the great pay and high demand.

Other top jobs include an actuary, human resources manager, dental hygienist and financial planner.

The folks at Career Cast weighed four main criteria including work environment, stress, physical demands and hiring.
