Due to flooding, Newport News police spokesperson Holly McPherson says residents at Great Oak for the Elderly on Great Oak Circle and Meridian Parkside Apartments off Hampton Roads Center Parkway are being evacuated.

Buses are provided for temporary shelter until residents can find shelter with family members.

There have been no reported injuries.

McPherson says fire and police manpower are limited around the city and calls for service will be prioritized.
