Need a ride? You won’t have to pay a dime on Earth Day if you’re using Hampton Roads Transit.

To celebrate Earth Day, HRT is offering free rides on all bus, MAX, Light Rail and Ferry Services.

Demand-Response Services, Guaranteed Ride, and Paratransit are not included.

They say this is a thank you to their customers who help the area to limit growth in traffic congestion by using their services.

Staff volunteers will also go out with brooms, trash bags and wipes to clean bus stops, train stations and transfer centers.

Volunteers will do this from April 22 through April 29th.

“Our bus stops, shelters and train platforms are the front doors to our business,” said William Harrell. “People form an impression of us when they wait for a ride. Keeping them litter free is central to our vision of being the most efficient and customer-driven transit agency in Virginia.”
