Woman charged after Virginia Beach shooting leaves one man injured

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A woman is in custody after a man in Virginia Beach was shot around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Mortons Road.

Officials say police arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in the area for his injuries, which were said to be non-life threatening.

Meggan Ashley Nelson, 25, was charged with felonious assault in the shooting. Nelson and the victim are known to each other.

Police said in a statement that Nelson is not yet in custody.
